Do you mean the little beige plaintalk microphone? I don't think 
it'll fit in the newer iMacs, but I could be wrong.

In my school we got a bottom-of-the-line USB microphone with headset 
for around $14, that works pretty well. It doesn't have the 
noise-reduction qualities of the better ones, but has MUCH better 
play-back sound than the Plaintalk ever did; one of the advantages of 
the USB mics is that they don't pick up the internal sounds of the 
computer. YMMV
