Hi all, I was the guy whining a week or two ago about not being able to
put up a web site on .Mac. I am happy to say that I have found a
workaround (ahem). OSX contains within its glossy innards the Apache
server software. So, any Mac running OSX can turn into a server running
its own web site.

Now, I am sure many of you already knew this, I am often enough a mile
back around the curve, but it was a shock for me. Nowhere on the box or
in the enclosed documentation do I see anything about this. This seems
to me to be a lot more significant than touting the ability to search
for restaurants. All that said, my smart little 350 blueberry iMac is
now a server. I wouldn't have believed it possible. You can view my
first effort, made in AppleWorks 6 on word processing, converted to
html in the "Save As" panel, at:

If you have not got OSX yet, all I can say is I am psyched. It is
great, even on an older iMac. Buy it, and buy David Pogues' "Missing
Manual" too. Worth every penny.
