i have dozens upon dozens of fanless iMacs that all run 24/7/365 ... 
some of which are more than 3 years old. the only reason he probably 
has many fanless iMacs that are dead... would probably because he sells 
more of them than anything else.

there's absolutely no reason that removing a printer driver should kill 
the machine. can you be more specific?

may not need it.... iphoto supports most Canon cameras without 
installing anything.

nothing. nothing at all, really.

no one's forcing you. in fact, you can go to System 
Preferences->Startup Disk, select OS 9, and boot to it, this very 
INSTANT, without going to an authorized service center, and never go 
back to OS X if you don't want to.
