If by "remote" you mean somewhere miles away from your iMac, then I don't
think a software router is what you want. You right be able to use Apple
Remote Access server on the iMac, but I don't know if that will share you
internet connection.

If you mean that you want to access the cable connection on a computer in
the same building as the iMac, you should by a hardware router and run
Ethernet cable.
