I don't disbelieve you, but there are also a lot of users like myself who have had very acceptable results with OS X. I waited until 10.1.5 as I had a good friend who was a one of the beta X testers and while it had plenty of gremlins, he said the potential was there.
I now run it on everything here that I can. An unsupported, upgraded PTP G3/400( thanks to XPosFacto) a Summer 2000, G3/350 iMac, a Clamshell and an Dual G4. 10.2.4 has been a great OS for me. I hardly ever use 9.2.2 for anything nowadays. When I can afford to upgrade a couple of apps, I don't see booting into 9 at all. It was a learning curve, and being older 'n dirt, I didn't pick it up like the kids, but I am a big OS X fan now. Sure there's things I would like to see added, but it beats any previous Apple OS I have ever used, hands down for stability. XP Pro is huge improvement over what has gone before from the prince of darkness, but it's no Jaguar. I go back to 1987 with using Apple and this current 10.2.4 is stellar. Just my experience, your mileage may vary. Jack Russell<< ---------------------------- I have to agree with Jack regarding OSX (10.2) experience. The worst problem I have had with it is to run Fix Permissions, which corrected a booting problem. BTW, do you (original poster) have the software restore disk? If so, why run to the Apple tech? If not, go back and demand one (it's supposed to come with the machine, unless yours is an upgraded machine). If yours is an upgrade, once it is back to running, check the firmware on it, and make sure that it is up to date (run Software Update). You really do need that restore DVD if only to run Fix Permissions as needed. May want to purchase 10.2 if necessary. Jerry -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
