> I am looking for a new printer and would like to get one of the all-in-one set ups (i.e. Printer/scanner/fax/copier) this time around.
I am particularly interested in the HP series as I have never had problems with them but most of the ones I have looked at are not USB. Any suggestions in the $300-400.00 (CDN) or approx $180-250 USD price range? < -------------------- I do not have a specific all-in-one in mind, but I would suggest that you make your purchase somewhat based on the availability of an OS X driver (if you are using OS X, that is). I have seen threads in various mailing lists that, to me at least, suggest that there are issues with HP's drivers; such may be the case with other brands drivers, as well. Please take a surf over to http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/ and select the "Supported Printers" link. I use Gimp-Print on a 1999 Epson Stylus Scan 2500, which provides printing, copying, and scanning: no faxing though. It works very well using Gimp-Print. The fact that Gimp-Print is a 3rd-party driver should in no way cause one to believe that it is somehow inferior. Jerry -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
