Given that OS 9 booting problems are relatively rare, I suspect that your problem is 
due to installing a 9.2.2 operating system tuned to the G4 iMac onto a Rev B iMac.  
Generally, you can't cross species with Mac OS's...even within the same family.  You 
will either have to download 9.2.2, or buy a disc.  Apple may well sell 9.2.2 discs 
for ~ $20 (like they do the 10.2 upgrades), or look at other online resellers.

FYI, if one purchases OS X, or 9.2.2 for that matter, (rather than what comes with a 
given machine) then what you get is an OS that can be installed on any supported Mac.
