I heard that 10.2.4 has flaky Ethernet support. Right after 10.2.4 was 
released I heard that some people had problems with their home networks. 
Perhaps there are some updates you need, have you checked Software Update?

Empty the 'Servers' folder in the System Folder on B (the iMac 333 aka 
Rev.D), it contains aliasses for other volumes. Next time you logon to 
the other Mac don't click the box in the Chooser Mick was talking 'bout. 
You don't need it. And it's always good to trash the AppleShare Prep. 
BTW In the past the Mac remembered those logon prefs in the AppleShare 
Prep instead of the Servers folder, that's why Mick suggested that.

You can connect the Lexmark to one of the Macs and enable USB Printer 
Sharing; both OS 9 and OS X have USB Printer Sharing. Downside is that 
the Mac where the printer is connected has to be turned on to print.
But I don't know if a shared USB printer in OS 9 is seen in OS X and the 
other way around...
