Well, if by "little" iMac you're referring to one of the early ones 
with the puck-shaped mouse, then I'd say that's definitely a 
possibility.  I used to get some wrist discomfort shortly after getting 
my original Bondi Blue iMac, discomfort that has since abated since 
getting my Flat Panel iMac.

I found that the original iMac mouse, while quite responsive, was too 
small and too hard to orient.  I had to work at positioning it right, 
and that often put strain on my wrist.  Plus, the smaller mouse size 
left less surface area to rest my palm against, again increasing strain 
on my wrist.

I find the Pro Mouse that comes with the current iMacs to be much more 
comfortable.  The Pro Mouse should work on ANY model iMac, so you might 
want to consider replacing the mouse on your iMac with one.  Or, if 
that's too expensive, almost ANY full-sized mouse might help solve your 
problem.  There are many different models of mice available for the Mac.
