My message from March 17th about the same question:

'...copy the firmware updater to the HD, reboot from your just installed 
OS, than run the firmware updater from the HD, it's important that you 
run it from the HD, because the Mac restarts while updating so needs 
access to the firmware updater on the HD to finish the update.'
