Essentially true. DVD's are regional. North America is region 1, Europe 
is another, Asia another, etc. Apple's DVD player gives you the option 
of changing it's regional setting, however, you can only change the 
region six times total.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was not a haxie out there to play PAL 
formatted DVD's on U.S. equipment. You might want to troll some of the 
DVD forums?
