More specifically, does my iMac have a virus? I've got an iMac indigo 400mhz computer with a 10gig HD and 575 MB of RAM. It runs Mac OS 9.0.4.
My problem: I opened iTunes yesterday (version 2.0) as I do every day. However, when I double-clicked to listen to a song in one of my playlists, the song, which normally ran about 4 minutes was reduced to 21 seconds. I proceeded to try this on about four more songs and it reduced all of them by about 9/10. I checked the actual folder where the music is stored and, indeed, the songs' files had been reduced to about 450 to 900k (depending on the original length of the song) instead of the typical 3 to 6 MB. I do not have any virus program on my computer except for SAM from 1999. It is not installed but when I tried to run it yesterday it said it was too old for my operating system. I haven't noticed any other virus-like problems, though I have had a few more freezes than is normal. I've run Norton Disk Doctor and it fixed any problems. But the iTunes program is still shrinking my songs. Has anyone ever heard of this? Any suggestions on what I can do? I have 1.27 gig of free hard drive space. I have not rebuilt my desktop in many months. I also have not defragmented with Norton my machine in many months. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
