I have a 17" iMac 800 MHz which I purchased last fall. When I brought
it home I noticed that Apple had set it up with one partition with both
OS X and OS 9 on it. As I wanted to have both OS's on separate
partitions I reformatted the HD and tried to install OS 9.x by
restarted the computer holding down the C key. It stated it could not
boot from my OS 9 CD. (in case it makes a difference the OS 9 CD came
from an OS X update I purchased separately, not with my iMac) Is it
because my iMac will not allow me to install OS 9 separately or is it
because I am trying to install OS 9.1 (i think it i s 9.1 as I am not
at my iMac right now. But I am sure it is not 9.2.2)

Any help on how I can install OS 9 separately on my main HD would be
great as I have resorted to using my iPod as a firewire HD temporarily
for OS 9 and for short duration use at the moment.

Thanks.
