Jack,

I agree I didn't need it either until a print job kept telling me to
increase the memory to the printer. I do not know any other way to do this
except with a desktop printer on the desktop. Even than I am not sure it can
be done. Since I haven't use Desktop Printing since I got USB.

I couldn't find an answer on Epson's site but someone on this list did.
Thanks for everyone's help.

You're correct. The 740 / 740i do not support desktop printing.  I
learned this after I bought a new 740 years ago. (I don't believe any
of the later Epson printers do?) I remember reading an article in one
of the magazines about a hack, but I just learned, I really did not
need it.
