Maybe two weeks ago, I posted a request for help in getting PageMaker 5 on my iMac DV 400 to print on an HP LaserJet 1200.
I got that issue of my paper to the printer by taking my iMac to Kinko's, getting their people to help me load the right drivers for their printers, then printing out my pages. The day after we went to press, I received help from HP. So, just in case you are having the same issues: My first two attempts to get help from HP (phone and e-mail) were useless. I'd had the printer too long to just return it to Sam's. I guess the third attempt to contact HP was a charm. This time, someone sent a response explaining that there's a compatibility issue with the drivers that were sent with that printer. They sent a 15-step list telling me how to disable specific extensions and then put the right printer on the desktop. It has worked like a charm ever since. Of course, I haven't had to print out my 20-page newspaper yet, but I did print 4 pages of it, and it went off without a hitch. Even the memory-heavy double-page spread with scanned senior portraits of 22 graduates printed out just fine, way faster than at Kinko's. I shared that for anyone having the same trouble.
