I got a fujifilm 2300 2.1 megapixel over a year ago for a great deal becuz the newer models came out. Batteries are OK but pictures are great and people are amazed at the quality of fotos. I have no optical zoom which I miss and will get in my next upgrade. Software that comes with it is very easy to use but did not work with OSX but I use iPhoto all the time now anyways. (remember the color printer is as important as the camera.)
I dont like the higher end fuji cuz they are too big. Canons are nice and compact. My next camera will most likely be in your price range so let me know what you get and give us a review.
