Yes Muz, My problem started with freezes that got progressively more frequent. When I tried to reinstall the software and pressed the c key on start I only got the question mark. A mac friend looked at it and after zapping the Pram, and trying to boot with several different discs, diagnosed it as a bad cd rom drive. I replaced the cd rom drive and it sounds better, but didn't solve the problem. Everything I read about it on the net pointed to the hard drive, so I replaced it with a 60G Maxtor. Also, at some point pulled the 64m or ram from the top slot to eliminate that as a problem. Didn't pull the 32m from the bottom cause I didn't know how to get to it at the time. Nothing has worked so far. Bill.

I think I ended up Starting with the system disk in the CD drive and my left forefinger on the C button .... When I think back after about 5 years of Mac ownership that was the biggy for me .....
