Has anyone ripped DVDs to their iMacs? I used DVDBackup to rip a copy of
one of my daughter's videos then used DVD2ONE to compress the files. I now
have a VT_S folder I don't know what to do with. One protocol I saw tells
you to drag the folder to Toast Titanium and it will burn a copy of the
DVD. When I tried this, the disc was burned in far too short a time so I
knew something was wrong. After it was finished I tried to play the thing
and only the first 1 minute of the movie was there. Doesn't a DVD have to
be in a Quicktime compatible format in order to burn? How do you translate
these VT_S folder files into a playable DVD?

Before running DVDBackup play the movie a few minutes in Apple DVD Player or you will most probably get an error message in DVDBackup. Quit DVD Player and launch DVDBackup. Drag the DVD disk icon from desktop to DVDBackup window. A lot of filenames will appear. Check Change Region Control Coding: New Region=Region Free, check Remove Macrovision Protection, check Remove CSS Encryption. Press Process Files and select a destination. Take the dog for a walk.

In DVD2oneX select folder created by DVDBackup. Select DVD+-R(W) in the first menu. Should read 4472 MB next to menu. In second menu select Diskcopy. For best picture quality select only one audio track in secondary window. Press Start and select destination. Also check Create VIDEO_TS folder. Take a coffe break.

Burn DVD in Toast: Click Other, select DVD, New DVD, name DVD using capitals only. Drag VIDEO_TS folder created by DVD2oneX to Toast window. To make the DVD compatible with as many players as possible create an empty folder named AUDIO_TS. Press record and select speed. 1x approx one h, 2x 30 min and so on.
