I have a friend who is 83 years old. Her son-in-law bought her a new 15" LCD panel iMac with the long neck on it. The Apple techs came down and put a new modem inn it. It is still getting her kicked off of the Internet, using 10 X. I do not know how to set the ISP connection to reset the 15 minutes, inactivity connection drop to about an hour.
In OS X 10.2.x System Preferences/Network/PPP/PPP Options/Session Options/ Disconnect if idle for __ minits.
She is also getting several dialogue boxes with other warnings, all caused by the Modem. Any ideas on this list.
Re-check modem settings. Find out what specifically the warning messages are.
