I'm running OS 9.2.2 on an iMac 400 DV (Summer 2000). Every time I launch an application, the system beeps. I can't figure out what's causing it. I've zapped the PRAM; trashed the System Prefs, Finder Prefs, and the MacOS Pref; copied over a back up system folder from a known "good" backup; and used Conflict Catcher to disable all but the base 9.2.2 extensions, 9.2 extensions, and 9.1 extensions. Still, the system beeps every time I launch an app. Can anyone help me figure out what's going on?
You may have a sound set selected. Go to the appearance control panel, select the sound tab and make sure "none" is selected in the popup menu. In my system, platinum is the only other choice.
