First--I "hear" that some Firewire drives don't boot. How do I find out if mine will?
Try it by using CCC to clone your hard drive; be sure to set the preferences to make a bootable copy.
2nd -- do I just install Jaguar on it straight? and then install DiskWarrior and TechTool?
CCC will take care of all that for you -- whatever is on your hard drive. (Note: You can specify items _not_ to be copied if you wish.)
3rd--does Carbon Copy Cloning work completely? i.e., could I just use it to copy the entire HD and OpSys to the Firewire and have a bootable backup?
Yes, I do that regularly with two external firewire drives.
4th--does CCC work without condensing?
Yes, although there is an option (in CCC's preference) to make a disk image, I believe.
