right as rain. Turns out I did have a version of Toast that runs under X, so mission accomplished. Thanks. (I was wondering if there was a way, if didn't have Toast, to disk copy an image file and then burn a bootable CD out of that?

Is it possible to copy the Jaguar install disk so I can boot from it when I need to run Disk Utility?
Or would I be better advised to copy it to an accessory drive and boot from that?
In either case, what's the correct procedure?

Copy disk with Toast or clone current installation with Carbon Copy Cloner!
