You can go to the Apple Support website and look for compatible cd-rw drives under iTunes. It should give you a list of all compatible firewire and usb burners. I had the same problem--got a drive and found out that the drive was not supported under OS

For my birthday I got a AOpen EHW-5224U CD-R/W that uses USB 2.0. The manual says it goes with OS 9x, so it took a while before I understood that my iMac DV does not work with USB 2.0.
Is there any way that I can use this CD-R/W, or should I better try to return it to the store?
