Thanks to Patrick, Carol, Phil and Muz for the feedback. Safari sounds
like a winner.

BTW, I have the disk with which to import Jaguar - 10.2.4. Is Safari part
of the Jaguar package ?
Not with 10.4 It's a reasonable sized, free download from Apple. I have noticed that in the last month or so, with new Macs, where the OS is on a DVD (instead of a bunch of CD's) Safari is included.

Just go to Apple.com and download it.
