I'm sending this to the guys at TechTV, and to the nerdy people I'm related to. I figure one of you should be able to answer my question, and hopefully get this question on the Screen Savers or Call for Help. My question would get some air time and that would be cool.

Here it goes:
I'm trying to install GIMP on OS X but I'm a little confused. I have OS X 10.2.1 Jaguar right now and wanna install the latest version of GIMP. I saw that awhile ago on one of Uncle Jays computers. I decided that I wanna install that on OS X in Jaguar. I got Leo's 2003 Technology Almanac for Christmas and the March 3rd download of the day talks about downloading GIMP for OS X. To quote "To get Gimp running on OS X you'll have to install X Windows first", not really sure what that is. "Automate the process with Fink, free from "fink.sourceforge.net"". The instructions I found on that site are not very clear. I know nothing about UNIX, compling code, etc. I can buy it or download a pre compiled version for 15 dollars, but I wanna do this quicker. Is there an easy way to do this and preferrably cheap/free?

I did downloaded Fink from "fink.sourceforge.net" and also found a BLOG http://duhblog.com:8668/duhblog/space/ Notes+on+Installing+GIMP+on+Mac+OS+X with some instructions for installing GIMP packages, but I'm not really sure what the packages are or do and what I do with them after their downloaded. Can somebody guide me through this?
On of the documents I saw said to go to the terminal and type "sudo deslect". I went to "U"pdate packages, then "S"elect packages and installed all the packages needed for GIMP. What I'm downloading and what I do afterward is a mystery. I'm working on a phone line with a 26k connection. The packages total 64.9MB so this will take awhile over night.

Sorry if this email sounds kinda vague and confusing. I'm just very confused.
