How much RAM is in your flat panel iMac? I advise having about 500MB of RAM. A small amount of RAM (for example: 128) will slow any machine running OS X. And the slowdown will be incredible.
I'm about to chuck my FP iMac out the window. Is it normal for the internet to be slower on OS X than OS 9 when using a modem? It's almost unbearingly slow in OS X, yet when I use my old 233 iMac with OS 9, it zips along like nothing. Is there a setting that I"m missing that might help it speed up a little when connecting with the modem?
Something is awry. ... Safari with 10.2.6 is faster browsing than running Netscape 4.78 with OS 9 on our three ... Mac's. Any other apps slow? Perhaps just a case of general crud which repair permissions and/or running the chron jobs will fix?
There is no inherent reason OSX would be slower at browsing than OS9. Jack Russell
