Now that I'm upgrading to 10.2, I find that Canon will not be putting out a

question is do I give the Multipass to the college kid? What do I get to
fill the void? Is there anything out there that will allow me to print in
both 10 and 9? Without breaking my budget?

Sure. I have a Multipass 1000 I bought back in 1995. It now serves only as a plain paper fax and does that very well. I use an Epson C82 to print from both 9.2.2 and 10.2.6 . No hassle at all. Have to install the Epson drivers under 9.2.2 but it works fine. It prints good quality for everyday office use, does images quiet nicely for my purposes, and it was low cost enough that if it dies next year, it's no big deal.

There are a number of printers that will work with both OS 9 and OS X. Finding a suitable printer, at a non budget busting cost, should not be a problem.
