I received some good news. i will be getting a free iMac DV (OS 10.2) very soon. The only problem that i know of is that the internal display is very difficult to read. Why off list ???
Make sure that it has the latest firmware!!!
Sounds classic iMac slot loading Jaguar syndrome.
That's what happened here! I fixed it - with persistent restarting and the programmer's button until I got enough screen to reinstall system 9.2 and start over. I was then able to bring in the firmware upgrade (4.1.9) which recovered the computer. *Then* I reinstalled 10.2 and it works.
Shoulda read the instructions first - or asked the experts here, like...
