There are some books on making the transition from OS 9 to OS X, but I don't know any personally.

As for good desktop reference on OSX. I find O'Reilly's "Mac OS X In A Nutshell" to be a very useful book. It has a strong section on using OS X's Unix capabilities. If you just want something on Unix for OS X then their "Unix for Mac OS X" is a great little book. Hnady size and includes a nice quick reference cheat sheet you can keep handy for those times when you want to look like omnipotent tech support. <G>

They have reviews and excerpts of all their publications available on their web site at http://www.oreilly.com

The usual disclaimers, no financial interest, yadda, yadda, yadda. Just a very satisfied user of their books.
