When I got your mail two hours ago, I realized that I forgot to do a DVD with photos for my parents, and thought I would try it out to answer you question if that is a way to do it. I just finished doing it! With different music in the 4 slide shows that I did and another on the front page. In iDVD you just select your iPhoto-albums directly, add music from iTunes. So cool. Now I just wonder how long it will take to burn! But if you don't have a DVD-burner, iPhoto is probably the way to go. I gave up on iMovie for that purpose the first time I tried.
