you pay for when buying the iLife package($50),
Er... If you buy a Mac with a DVD-R you get iDVD3. Pretty sure. Or are you saying that new machines come with iDVD3?
but I can thoroughly recommend it because of the integration with the other iLife applications,
iDVD3 is sweet.
