We have a pink iMac (not sure of the model). My son's friend put one of
those small CDs in the slot. Is there an easy way to get it out?
There was no pink iMac, you must be referring to the Ruby iMac DV or the Strawberry one (I didn't think those were slot-loaders but apparently they were).
The answer to you question is "no, there's no easy way to get it out." Your son's friend should have his ears boxed for his stupidity. You might TRY starting up the mac and holding the mouse button down, this causes a force-eject and PERHAPS you'll get real lucky.
If that doesn't work, your only option is to disassemble the iMac, remove the CD-drive, disassemble it, remove the small CD, reassemble the CD drive, replace it in the iMac and reassemble the iMac. Or pay someone to do that.
Alternatives: if your machine has Firewire ports, then I'd suggest to you that buying a (faster and more versatile) Firewire external CD-RW is the most economical workaround. As a bonus you will be able to do more with it, much faster than the "old" built-in one. Cost: probably $100-150.
Second alternative: there are companies that will replace the internal CD of the iMac for you with one of their own (faster, more versatile) units and send the whole thing back to you. Should cost around $300.
