I'd like to say, from personal experience that:

OS X 10.2x Runs Just Fine On A Bondi Blue iMac 233 (rev a/b).
I've used it everyday, all day, for the past year or so.
Using Photoshop, eLister, email, Safari, iTunes, iView mostly.

Consider making the following Upgrades:
Up the memory to 256mb (or more)
Up the Hard Drive to 20gb (or more)

I would Also: In the *Displays Control Panel* set *Colors* to Thousands,
*Resolutions * to 600 x 800.

You must partition the hard drive and install OS X on the first 8gb.

It seems the Graphic Chips are not supported in OS X so all display
information is routed through the CPU. In real world experience, for me,
this is only a problem with Video Clips (RealMedia, most Quicktime, etc.).
But you can watch them.
Photoshop 7 runs well enough if not the same as under OS 9.
And to see a video clip in more detail you could open it in Classic.

For a great looking, compact, inexpensive, OS X machine definitely consider
an early iMac.
