As you can see I have a Rev A iMac and have just got it set up exactly as I want after installing Jag. Now I want to fool around with some other OS configurations and partition schemes without having to re-configure wehn I'm done. I'm planning on using carbon copy cloner to copy my existing OSX partition to an external disk so I can copy it back as needed.

What I'd like to know is whether or not you can boot off an external drive? If so do the bootable partitions have to exist inside the first 8 gigabyes of the drive? I won't be heartbroken if the answer to the first question is no, it will however change my plans slightly. :)

Oops nearly forgot, are there any "gotcha's" when partitioning drives under OS X, like minmum sizes etc?

Thanks,
Greville
