This month I have been experiencing frequent hard crashes (the bomb actually
shows up) with Outlook Express and Internet Explorer. My mac has not had
anything new installed but has plenty of files downloaded. Mostly for other
macs and older operating systems.

I am running OS 9.2.2, is there a virus I missed? Something that causes
havoc with Microsucks applications?

Any help is very much appreciated.

The answer is contained in your post. If you are downloading OS files for "older macs and older operating systems," there's a REAL good chance that you accidentally overwrote the existing (current) MS support files with older versions.

Reinstall fresh copies of Outlook Express and IE and things should get back to normal.
