Overall, Panther is amazing. It has breathed new life into my 600mHz, 640 MB RAM, G3 iMac.

I had dumped OS X 10.1 because of its sluggishness and waited patiently for a better OS X version. When Panther was announced I new it was time to say adios to OS 9.2.2.

So I zeroed my harddrive for a truly fresh start and loaded Panther on 10/24.

The only two glitches have been getting connected to the web & printing via appletalk.

1. My network preferences work sometimes and sometimes go goofy. Last night I spent 30 minutes deleting and resetting all my network preferences for PPP, TCP, modem , even reconfigured the ports a couple times. It was weird but it finally worked again.

If location was set to automatic the PPP would set to I different ip address than my ISP.

Most frequent error messages from IC were: "no dial tone detected" and "authentication failed"

2. Twice "make appletalk active" has deselected itself in my ethernet port configuration.
fyi: I am using an LaserWriter Select 360 connected via iPrint and the ethernet port.
(My USB printer is working just fine.)

Any suggestions on how to get this preference setting flakiness to stablize? It would be very nice to print or connect to the web consistantly without fiddling with preferences on a daily basis.

Thanks for your input,
Sandra
