Hey All:

You might remember that a month or so ago I posted a question about my iMac
DV (Summer 2000) beeping everytime I launched an application. Well, it
turns out I had been infected by the nVIR B virus off an old CD. My 3 year
old had somehow disabled Norton Antivirus via the Control Strip, and most of
my most-often used applications had been infected. Norton was able to clean
it up, and a fresh install of the system and applications fixed everything
for good.

So, the moral of the story is to be wary of older CDs, and keep at least
some bare minimum of virus protection on as a hedge--even Disinfectant, long
since retired--would have caught the nVIR infection.

Regards

MWS
