Out of nowhere this evening my iMac DV (Summer 2000) started giving me jittery video; the monitor pictures seems to be kind of vibrating slightly, like it is expanding and contracting at the monitor edges.
{snip}
The only time the jitteryness stops is when it 1) wakes from sleep, then about 2 minutes later it starts again, and 2) when I boot from the Apple Hardware Test CD that came with my iMac
Just to clarify for me - you get normal video when you boot from the test CD? What about other CDs - like DiskWarrior and/or your OS install disk? Normal video? If so, doesn't sound like a hardware failure, does it?
Do you leave your iMac powered on always or do you shut down regularly? (I'm thinking about the degaussing routine that runs from a cold start-up.)
