Hi Jim I've been trying to post this to the list but there is something going on and my posts are being returned giving me the following reason: Failed to deliver to '<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>' LIST module(list imac-list) reports: Your message cannot be posted. It is composed using the 'windows-1252' character set, and this list accepts ISO-8859-1 only
Which is very weird since only use plain text. Here's the message that I've tried to send. Perhaps you have some answers: Hi Listers- Thanks to the people who sent me the info. I was able to swap out the old 6 gig HD and install the 40 gig drive. I partitioned it with OS 9 utility from an Installer CD. I also installed 9.01 (from the CD) into the larger partition. I then, using my OS 10.2 installer disk put Jaguar onto the 7 gig partition. All went well and I got a successful installation dialog box. I restarted and my new troubles began. I got the flashing ? icon. The machine doesn't see a valid system folder. I restarted with the OS 9 CD. The two new partitions mounted and their system folders had no icons. Not knowing the imac I assume that there might be some special enabler(s) that I need to add. While I was booted from the 9.01 CD I was able to use the ethernet network and I mounted a drive from my S900 that contained the entire former drive from the imac that I had backed up. I copied this back into the large partition on the 333 Mhz Cherry and deleted the 9.01 stuff that I had just installed. Now I had 9.1 on the imac with what appeared to be a valid sys folder. When I restarted I got the flashing ? again. I tried restarting holding the option key down. NG. I tried to force the machine to find another drive by holding the shift, option, command delete keys. I don't know if this works with the imac, it didn't work. I restarted the machine with Disk Warrior, the newest version for both X and 9, and it started up in X. I "repaired" both drives and hoped that the system folders would be activated. No luck. So, the bottom line is that I can start the machine from either a 9.01 installer CD or the Disk Warrior CD, the new drives mount and that's as far as I can go.
