Why not set it up as an LPR printer? I am printing via LPR over my home ethernet network to an HP LJ5l (PCL) thats connected to a Windows XP home box via parallel cable. The XP box is running Zone Alarm firewall software. If you are using Panther you can print straight to it without needing Ghostscript to emulate Postscript. Works great.
Because it's m dad's and he's not likely to let me screw with his PC. The Firewall is not the problem I don't think I have opened all ports incoming to the server to UDP and TCP Samba traffic - I have a feeling the network is not bridging properly. I am not able to see the machines outside my subnet form any machine apart from the server, but then again that machine can't see the printer on the computer outside my LAN anyway, but if I could get it to work on my Windows PC it'd be an easy enough job to share the printer as a 'relay' to my other machines.
