10.2.8 running great, over due for a Norton's or Disk
Warrior clean up. Today for the first time it didn't
wake up, a dead mouse, then pushed the "on" button and
it restarted no problems. However later I made sure to
put asleep via the apple menu vs. letting it sleep on
its own, woke up with out a problem. The question is
it better to put it asleep via the apple menu, or can
I still let it sleep with peace of mind?
That shouldn't make a difference, however, who knows what may be going on? A few general comments. 256 is not a lot of RAM for 10.2 and up. It will run, but it will run a lot happier on 512. How full is that original 10 GB hard drive? Once you get close to full all kind of weird behaviors can occur from lack of space.

It may well be an issue of "sludge" (just general bits and pieces of crud that accumulated over time), certainly Disc Warrior will not hurt it. Do you run the cron jobs routinely? What about repairing permissions?

Start with a good round of preventative maintenance and then see how it behaves. If that HD is 90% full, then consider dumping files to make space, or replacing it with a larger HD. HD's are priced very attractively right now.

Good luck,

Jack Russell
