Could someone please tell me which button on the slot loading iMac is the Reset button and which is the "Programmer's Interrupt switch?

I can't get the computer to make a sound or light up; only the button on the front of the machine stays lit for a spell before going out.
So, no chime, no HD sound, no video. Colour of the power button when lit is...?
Try starting from iMac OS install CD. If it starts, it's a s/w problem, but seems more likely to be hardware. If so, could be a number of things - drive, power supply, logic board, PAV board.
What is the recent past operation history of this iMac? What OS?
