I just bought Panther and installed it on my Sage iMac. I'm thrilled. It's running great. Very refreshing upgrade from OS 9. (Can't wait to move to OS X on my G4 too... when this big 'ol project I'm working on is done.)
Anyhow - we also bought a digital camcorder to use with iMovie. We'd like to make some home movies and burn DVDs... however, we don't have a DVD burner yet. The guy at the Apple Store tells us that to burn DVDs in an iMac such as ours, we'd need to have had one with a Super Drive. We were thinking we could just get an external DVD burner - and he (Apple guy) says the LaCie should work, but we must use the newest version of Toast to burn the DVD (iDVD will not work with an external drive?). Can someone confirm this? Anyone using an external DVD burner in an older iMac with Toast? We're thinking external is the way to go, since we've got several Macs in the house...
