I just joined the list and ALREADY find myself needing help.
I just purchased a "lightly used" imac G4 and (through being dumb enough to
not ask the right questions) I've just learned that it only comes with a
clean install of OSX, no Appleworks, imovie, idvd...etc, etc....
Somebody ripped you off. An iMac G4 comes with all that stuff pre-loaded, and it's also on the "Software Restore" disks that come with the machine.
If it happened to me, I'd file a criminal complaint against the seller.
Is there
anyone here that might be able to help me find installers for this software?
Assuming you cannot get what's due you from the seller, you will need to buy the software yourself. Luckily, it's not all that expensive.
iLife can be had for $50 from any Apple retail (or online) store. Appleworks runs about $80 from the same sources.
Can I burn dvd's without this software?
There are *alternatives* to iDVD, if that's what you mean -- but they aren't as good, and usually cost at least as much. I believe you can burn DATA dvd's without any additional software, but that's not to be confused with movie dvds.
