I just purchased a "lightly used" imac G4 and (through being dumb enough to
not ask the right questions) I've just learned that it only comes with a
clean install of OSX, no Appleworks, imovie, idvd...etc, etc....

Somebody ripped you off. An iMac G4 comes with all that stuff pre-loaded, and it's also on the "Software Restore" disks that come with the machine.

If it happened to me, I'd file a criminal complaint against the seller.

You must live in a pretty lefty state if it's a crime to sell an iMac without Appleworks. California?

I assume that the software restore disks didn't come with the machine,
right? That's really kind of odd, since they're not much good without
a machine to run them on. Maybe the seller just overlooked them?
