I used to be pro-partitioning, but old partitions are giving me a hell lately, so now I'd say no. Not worth the hassle, and with Panther giving you journaled file system as default and automated defragging, I hardly see the need.
Even though I am really really bad to my systems, especially my iBook, where I run down on no hard drive space far too often, I haven't even needed to use Diskwarrior for two years(Last time was when running 10.1.5 and not unmounting a USB stick, I believe). If you want 6 GB for you, why don't you just make a disk image using Disk Utility on the hard disk.
