Chinese fonts

I'm just curious as to why there are so many Chinese fonts with OS X.  
Having just scrolled through Font Book, there are twenty-five on my 
computer, to be specific.  Since I don't know Chinese, I'm really not 
sure what language they are.  There may be three or four of one 
language, three or four of another, etc.  There's also an 
Arabic-looking one.  I might use the Greek one from time to time.  Does 
anyone know why they are included?
