Ok anyone out there used an eMac I have not seen anything posted and I have stopped at the pismos and waiting for the next generation. So I need a little real world education and advice. I need to get my son another computer for the dorm room.

Are the eMacs reliable, I remember when they 1st came out there were a "few" problems but so far from my reading they are fairly reliable.

Are easy to upgrade? The ram, get at the hard drive to replace it and is the screen clarity good for the price. I would prefer to be at 1 GHZ models although a drop or 2 from that might be alright. From what I have seen I am looking at $800 to 1K for the refurbs, the student discount keeps the new ones in this price range also

The G4 1 GHZ iMacs are awful close in price when your looking at new models and refurbs, $1200 to about $1400 with student discount, again are the iMacs easy to get into and upgrade with the various components listed above. Also are the video cards set or can they be removed and upgraded. in either machine.

So eMac iMac what's going to be my sons next mac.

Appreciate the help,
Geoff
