If you search for "photoshop" it will find everything with "photoshop" in it's name. If you search for "photoshop prefs" it will find everything with "photoshopSPACEprefs" in it's name, in that order, so you won't find "photoshop 5.5 prefs", because the extra "SPACE5.5" is not what you typed in to search for.
