This may not apply to you problem, but I had an Imation SuperDisk Drive (perhaps not the same model as yours) and I began to have problems when I upgraded to OS 9. I downloaded some sort of driver upgrade from the Imation site and the problem was resolved. I have since upgraded to OS X and there is no difficulty as of yet.
